That goal number is just a working goal – I don’t have to reach it, although I expect I might. This novel is more involved than anything else I’ve written so far, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it crossed over the 150k mark.
After a few days of procrastinating last weekend, I started it on Sunday evening, getting in a solid three thousand words, even if the first three hundred or so were just blurb material. It got me warmed up.
Unfortunately, I was unable to write at all this week, but I used all my time at work doing data entry to plot. I even cleared up a potential snag with my scene order.
This weekend, I finished the first chapter and read the beginning to my writer’s group. We meet once a month and talk about writing and share excerpts for criticism. It’s a good smallish group that meets at Corner Bakery, where I can get a hot chocolate and/or a pastry and/or dinner. I look forward to it every month.
At least I got started, and it’s coming out of me not half bad. I think I got something viable to work with here. So that’s encouraging. Looking forward to where it goes next weekend.
