Before I begin my fairy tale remix story, I keep going through it in my head: do I write first person or third person? First person seems to be how it’s coming across in my head, but third person allows for a broader gaze, even when it’s limited to one perspective.
It may come down to the first paragraph I write and whether third person feels too distant. First person is harder, though, because it requires full commitment to the protagonist’s voice.
I may have been reading too many first person novels lately; perhaps I should read something in third person to reacquaint my mind with its rhythm.
